Dalton Tryba is a Research Specialist in the Coastal Water Health Lab. He earned his first bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University in 2020 before making a career shift to biology and water quality monitoring. In 2023, he earned his second bachelor's degree in Biology at Florida Gulf Coast University while beginning an internship in a water quality lab with the Lee County Hyacinth Control District in southwest Florida. This internship led to a position with a lake management company.

Dalton earned his master's degree at Tennessee Tech University in 2025 where his thesis focused on the effects of light and temperature treatment gradients on harmful algal growth and community composition shifts in the Ohio River.

At HRI, he will be monitoring for harmful algal blooms and shifts in marine plankton communities using Imaging Flowcytobots along the coast.
