Jamiu (Abbey) Opoola, CPA

Jamiu "Abbey" Opoola is the Financial Manager for the Harte Research Institute (HRI) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He works closely with the Assistant Director to perform budget preparation and analysis, cost allocation, post-award management for grant and contract accounts; monitor and review transactions on an ongoing basis to derive budgets, expenses, and future encumbrances, as well as produce monthly account summaries for all active accounts. Prior to joining HRI, he was a graduate assistant in research and financial analysis with the Division of Research and Innovation at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Abbey received his master’s degree in accounting from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and was named the outstanding graduate for summer 2019 for his outstanding academic performance, research engagement and community involvement. He also has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from University of Ilorin, Nigeria in 2014, where he graduated as the best graduating student in Finance.
