Jolie is originally from New Orleans and grew up loving the Gulf and marine science, and is working as a laboratory technician with the Coastal Conservation and Restoration lab group.

After growing up on the Gulf, Jolie moved to Minnesota to study Biology and Environmental Sciences with a conservation focus. During her undergraduate work, Jolie spent time doing research in Australia with coral reefs and elasmobranch fisheries bycatch.

In Jolie's post graduate work she worked with bivalve conservation projects through the MN DNR before moving to Virginia. While in Virginia, Jolie assisted researchers and college students with coastal field work at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, assisting on multiple projects ranging from marine geology, coastal herpetology, wetlands ecology, and other fields.

Outside of work, Jolie likes hiking and spending time outdoors, film photography, trying new coffee shops, and has recently taken up fishing. She also became interested in birding in coastal ecosystems, and is excited to learn the bird species of the Texas coast!

She hopes to attend graduate school in the future and is eager to learn lots of new field techniques, lab skills, and about coastal ecology through this position.
