Oil Spill Response Tools
The first project task involves adaptation of an existing GIS tool (Shoreline-Oil Spill Response Viability Analysis: S-OSRVA) to support the planning process for shoreline treatment response operations on the Texas coasts.
This task includes the adaptation of the existing Feasibility Analysis for Shoreline Treatment (FAST) app for Texas shore types. The second task creates a set of revolutionary user-friendly Job Aids to support preparedness, training and an effective shoreline response operation.
Shoreline response involves many activities ranging from field surveys, treatment recommendations, and operations field support, to documented treatment completion surveys. The Job Aids will guide GLO Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique (SCAT) field surveyors and Command Post managers through the appropriate sequence of the many activities and necessary documentation processes that are conducted within the structured command and control Incident Command System (ICS).
The GIS tool and the applications will be significantly valuable additions to the Oil Spill Tool kit and will provide innovative aids for training and preparedness.
