Guy Harvey Foundation and Harte Research Institute Partner to Bring Free Marine Science Education to Texas Schools
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (October 2, 2025) – The Guy Harvey Foundation (GHF), in partnership with the Harte Research Institute (HRI) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, has announced the distribution of its new educational resources catalog to K-12 schools across Texas. This initiative provides educators with free, ready-to-use marine science and ocean conservation lesson plans, videos, self-paced instruction (eLearning) and activities, making marine education more accessible to students throughout the state.
The partnership aims to equip Texas educators with tools to enhance existing marine science education curriculum. The GHF’s educational resources utilize Dr. Guy Harvey's iconic marine artwork and engaging video content and are designed to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation for the marine ecosystem. These resources also align with educational standards, making them easy for teachers to integrate into their existing science programs.
"Our mission is to foster a love for the ocean and an understanding of the importance of marine conservation to inspire the next generation of ocean stewards," said Guy Harvey Foundation CEO Jessica Harvey. "By partnering with the Harte Research Institute, we can connect with educators across Texas and provide them with dynamic, high-quality materials at no cost. Together, we can assist teachers in their effort to empower students with the knowledge to make a positive impact on our marine environments."
The Harte Research Institute, a leader in advancing science-driven solutions for the Gulf, will leverage its extensive network to ensure the catalog reaches schools in diverse communities, from coastal regions to inland cities. The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to science-based education and community outreach.
"Connecting students with the marine world is crucial for inspiring the next generation of ocean stewards,” said Jace Tunnell, Director of Community Engagement at the Harte Research Institute. "The Guy Harvey Foundation's resources are scientifically sound, engaging, and incorporate art as a teaching tool. We are proud to help bring this world-class marine science curriculum to classrooms all over Texas."
