We are excited to showcase work from the San Antonio River Authority (SARA) at the Clean Coast Texas November Lunch & Learn. Mikel Wilkins is joining us to provide an overview of how SARA is prioritizing implementation of nature-based solutions throughout the San Antonio River watershed, informed by water quality modeling. The presentation will discuss the identification and development of multi-benefit project concepts within the Leon Creek, Salado Creek and Upper San Antonio River watersheds. Wilkins will also discuss how these planning efforts complement ongoing City of San Antonio Phase 4 Community Area Plans, enhancements to the Westside Creeks Ecosystem Restoration project, and the overarching goal to address impairments in streams and rivers throughout the basin.

Wilkins is a Senior Engineer at San Antonio River Authority (SARA) where he leads a team of engineers, planners, and landscape designers in the development of nature-based solutions master plans for major watersheds of the San Antonio River basin. Wilkins is a professional environmental engineer with 30 years of experience focusing on planning and design of nature-based solutions, parks, and trails throughout the United States. He has also worked as an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University within the Masters of Sustainable Design program, teaching sustainability frameworks including SITES and Envision since 2018.
