Megan Radke, M.Ag.
Megan Radke is the Communications Coordinator for the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies. She serves as a storyteller for the institute through traditional media and public relations, while also managing social media outreach efforts and creating longform narratives. Her goal is to not only highlight HRI initiatives but to also better connect the general public with the natural world around them by "translating" complex science into more accessible terms and engaging stories.
Megan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of North Texas in 2011 and worked for many years in social media and public relations for various nonprofit organizations and agencies in North Texas. Her lifelong love for the outdoors eventually led her to begin volunteering with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), serving as a Texas State Parks Ambassador, and later working as a Park Ranger, for Big Bend Ranch State Park. These opportunities kickstarted Megan's career path in natural resources, motivating her to seek a Master of Agriculture in Natural Resources Conservation from Sul Ross State University while still working full-time.
She has been able to combine her undergrad and graduate coursework through outreach and communications positions with Texas A&M Forest Service, in the TPWD Press Office, working as a Press Officer for the department's Wildlife Division, and now at HRI.
